Thank you to everyone who attended our second meeting of the 2009-2010 school year. We hope to continue to see the attendance increase throughout the year. Since one of the goals of the Family School Association (FSA) is to foster a sense of community between parents, students and faculty of St. John Fisher, please consider attending future meetings and volunteering at one of the many events throughout the year. Below are some of the topics discussed at this month’s meeting. Next FSA meeting is scheduled for Thursday, January 14 at 7 p.m. in the school conference room. As always, childcare will be available during the meeting in hopes to make it a little easier for parents to attend. To view all FSA events and descriptions please visit SJF-FSA under new parent information. SOCIAL PROGRAMS Boutique Night – This event was held in Kane Hall on November 19 hosting over 30 vendors. Thank you to Caley Funk for a great job organizing! Christmas Crafts – This year, Christmas Crafts is slated for the evening of December 3 (TONIGHT!), in Kane Hall. A flyer was sent home with all the details last week. It’s a great night for kids to hand-make a variety of holiday crafts! Questions? Contact Michelle Hladik st 773-445-8157. Candlelight Bowl – The Candlelight Bowl has been scheduled this year for January 16 at Bleekers. More information to follow. Please remember, with all SJF events, parking is prohibited on the east side of Washtenaw. FUNDRAISING COMMITTEE Magazine Drive/Wrapping Paper – A success once again this year. Many thanks to Kelly Sullivan and all who help organize this event for all their hard work. Approximately $30,000 in orders were turned in and about 50% goes back to SJF! EDUCATIONAL/SPIRITUAL COMMITTEE Sacks for Santa – A pick-up date has been scheduled for December 14 at 11:30 a.m. Information has been sent home. PRINCIPAL’S REPORT As the first trimester comes to a close, 8th graders prepare for high school placement tests and 2nd graders begin preparation for First Holy Communion. This year is the State Evaluation for SJF. More information to come as the school prepares for this event. SJF was honored to have Mark Brown come to speak to the 6th, 7th & 8th graders of SJF, Most Holy Redeemer and Christ the King. This powerful assembly focused on the importance of self-respect and anti-bullying. November 15 begins the “Manna Christmas Project”. 1% of Manna purchases between 11/15 – 1/15 will be given to the SJF Tuition Assistance Progam. GET INVOLVED TODAY! Creating a close link between home and school best serves the kids and the community. If you are interested in volunteering please let us know. We look forward to working together to make a great 2009-2010 school year.
