PART I: The following activities are designed to provide information to students on safe use of the Internet. Topics include cyberbullying, online predators, the hazards of providing personal information online, keeping your computer secure, Internet banking, and identity theft. The first site we will be using is CyberNetrix. This site was designed in Australia for use with junior high and high school students. Complete the following activities: View these four short videos, which can be found under Case Studies.
Complete the Chat Room activities. Review the Internet Banking section. Learn about Staying Cyber Savvy. Complete the Buzz on Identity Theft activities. Discover how to Keep Your Computer Secure. Complete the Mobile Phone activities. When you have finished the above activities, complete all three Cybernetrix Quizzes.
PART II: Complete the activities at each of the following websites: NS Teens - Watch the four videos: Gaming, Offline Consequences, Social Networking, Cyberbullying. Get Your Web License – passwords, privacy, etiquette, safe surfing, etc. Shrink the Cyberbully – learn how to respond to a cyberbully. ID the Creep – Be wary of who you chat or IM with. Do a thorough job on Parts I and II. You will be asked to share what you have learned.
